NEW YORK (June 16, 2013) — Hip Hop will try to give the boot to children’s obesity in a new DVD from celebrity artistic director Brice D. Vick.

Entitled Hip Hop 4 Health plus (HH4H+), the DVD features a collaboration of high energy Hip Hop and pop dance moves. All of the proceeds from sales will go to the Hip Hop 4 Health Plus organization, a registered non-profit organization that provides funding for youth to stay fit with interactive community health programs. The DVD is scheduled for release this year.

“I am so thrilled to be doing this DVD – it’s been a project my team and I have been working to perfect for 18 months ,” said Vick, director of HH4H+. “I have been fortunate for the past decade to work with some of the largest networks and stars creating choreography and creative direction and I have seen how dancing has evolved into many forms of fitness programs over the years.”

Besides working with music legends such as Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, Lenny Kravitz and Grammy Award winning artist Ashanti, Vick is also a choreographer to numerous reputable dance academies in New York and Miami. He also holds occasional workshops in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and London, England.

“When (the) American Heart Association released their stats for childhood obesity, without a doubt, I had to take action,” said Vick. “ I knew obesity within our youth was on the rise but was certainly shocked to know the statistics have indicated the growth rate to nearly three times what it was in my years as a teen.”

In 2013, American Heart Association obesity growth charts for youth ages two to 19 found 31.9 per cent of Caucasian males and 29.5 per cent of females struggle with obesity. Further, for non-Hispanic blacks, the percentages are 30.8 of males and 39.2 of females. With Mexican Americans, the figures are 40.8 per cent of males and 35.0 per cent of females. HH4H+ DVD production starts in June and production is expected to be completed July 18, 2013.
