Held at the Magna Corral in Aurora, Ontario, headliners feature the legendary Jim Cuddy Band and Dallas Smith and The Road Hammers

TORONTOSept. 10, 2015 /CNW/ – The nationally renowned annual Magna Hoedown will take over the Magna Corral in Aurora (aka Magna head office) for two days with a high voltage, kick up your heels, hoot and holler fun extravaganza to raise money for 15 York Region charities. This is the 27th year for the Hoedown, which has become synonymous with powerhouse fundraising for community charities.

The two nights of Hoedown features the legendary Jim Cuddy Band headlining on Friday night, and Dallas Smith and The Road Hammers rocking the big show on Saturday night. This year the Prospector Raffle offers $100,000 in prizes and the silent auction includes prizes worth thousands of dollars each including Shania Twain tickets, a trip to Nashville and a World Cup Rugby package.

“The Hoedown is one of the most dynamic fundraisers in the York Region,” said John Crowell, Social Responsibility Manager, Magna International Inc. “Our employees, numerous businesses and more than 500 volunteers are the force behind collecting those extraordinary items. Their work allows us to raise millions of dollars to support regional non-profit social service, sports and arts organizations.”

The exciting and entertaining Magna Hoedown Showdown country music talent competition takes place on Friday night. After the Showdown performances, attendees can text to vote for their Top 3 contestants. The winner will perform in front of 5,000 country fans at the Hoedown on September 19th. They will also receive a prize pack valued at over $15,000, two full days of recording and more.

Last year alone, Hoedown proceeds totaling $463,000 benefited 15 vital agencies and thousands of their constituents. This year, 15 more deserving regional organizations (see them on hoedown.ca) will share Hoedown proceeds to support their work helping marginalized neighbours, providing social service and mental health programs, and ensuring that participation in athletics and the arts is possible for everyone.
